Set in the backdrop of London in the year 1872, this classic adventure novel by French writer Jules Verne cynosures a culminating gentleman Mr. Phileas Fogg from the 1870s London and his newly appointed chauffer Passepertout as they attempt to accomplish the accosting, rather audacious task of skirting the world in 80 days on a £20,000 wager (equal to £1,324,289 today) set by his friends at the Reform Club. The story also polestars the various pros and cons eyeballed by them as they brace themselves to carry out the goading task. Travel and high on adventure, this book is especially appealing to young readers.

The craving, rather the dogma circumventing the very head of Mr. Phileas Fogg may be quite eccentric for the banal London folk, yet was very lucid in his own mind. It was very well blueprinted by this opulent, rather docile man from the 1870s London.

P.S:

THE PROPOSED SCHEDULE London, United Kingdom to Suez, Egypt via rail and steamer across Mediterranean counting up to a total of 7 days. Suez to Bombay , India by steamer through Red Sea and Indian Ocean totaling up to 13 days. Bombay to Calcutta, India via rail summing up to 3 days. Calcutta to Hong Kong, China by steamer through South China Sea adding another 13 days to the proposed schedule. Hong Kong to Yokohama, Japan via steamer across South China Sea, East China Sea and through Pacific Ocean augmenting to another 6 days. Yokohama to San Francisco, United States by steamer across Pacific Ocean supplementing again another 22 days. San Francisco to New York City, United States by Rail for 7 days. New York to London via steamer across Atlantic Ocean and rail annex another 9 days. Total summing up to 80 days.

In order to accomplish this morbid task, Mr. Fogg and his ardent French Valet Passepertout had to audit various aberrant environs – from the rescue of a sati to hair-raising confrontation with the rowdy Sioux. Phileas Fogg, quite fastidious by nature had also acquired rather accustomed himself to the different pleasantries of life. As a matter of fact he also chose to commemorate his success by finding a soul mate for himself. This adventure novel also focuses on the generosity of Mr. Fogg along with his plutocracy.

Jules Verne’s intrepid travels take us both in time and space through the different inept situations and atrocities faced by both the travellers. The readers travel with the hero, Mr. Fogg and, and his lovable manservant, to exotic lands and experience the thrill and excitement of the breakneck adventures. So, this book by Jules Verne has the ability to energize your mind, alleviate your pulses as you find yourself traversing around the world in 80 days.
