Adite Banerjie gives us our very own Indian version of a Mills and Boon plot in The Indian Tycoon’s Marriage Deal. A typical boy-meets-girl story narrated with beautiful language for a refreshing read.

Mills and Boon novels have been considered the soul of romantic literature since the 70’s. They have been the guilty pleasure of so many readers for so long. To read a desi version of Mills and Boon was a first for me, and I must say that the author didn’t let me down.

The Indian Tycoon’s Marriage Deal is a story about two people who are from very different sections of society, whose lives are intertwined by destiny. So there is Maya Shome, the lovely and independent landscape designer with a bitter past. All she wants is revenge from the man because of whom she lost her family. Then there is Krish Dev, our tall, dark and handsome hero who is extremely rich and the enemy’s son. Krish differs from his father KD because of their ideologies. He wants to get out of his father’s clutches. The two tie the knot as both have something to gain from this sham marriage and nothing to lose. But what they didn’t expect was that they might fall for each other.

This was a short and simple read and yet, I enjoyed it a lot. I really loved the author’s writing style. Adite’s writing is just beautiful; it is simple, yet there is intricacy in her work. It has a poetic feel to it. Inspite of being a real short read, the characters are very well developed. She has the power to connect us with Maya and Krish from the very beginning and that is commendable. The chemistry between the lead pair is really nice (reading the book made me feel like I was watching a Bollywood movie!).

Being of the Mills and Boon genre, the happy ending was inevitable but there is so much going on that will keep you glued to the book. If you want a short and light read with a good love story, then this is the book for you.
