2013 Reader’s Choice Literary Awards

2013 was a good year for Indian bibliophiles. Several eagerly-awaited books hit bookstores, only to fly off the shelves; Jhumpa Lahiri’s Lowland, Manuscript Found In Accra by Paulo Coelho, Preeti Shenoy’s The One You Cannot Have, Sycamore Row by John Grisham. The Booker Prize this year was widely hailed as “The best shortlist in a decade”. Indian literary festivals proliferated, with some cities hosting two or even three!
