Students in Maharashtra – especially the cricket enthusiasts among them – will soon be acing their exams. The Maharashtra government has decided to add a chapter on the ‘God of Cricket’ in school textbooks!
No doubt this will stimulate students – no one will be sleeping in class on the day that the ‘Sachin’ chapter is being taught. However, if Sachin can be added in there, surely those in charge of deciding the syllabus could consider adding other contemporary topics too – such as modern Indian history (post 1947, that is.) Why not a weekly class on current events?
Do you think a chapter on Sachin Tendulkar is a good idea? What other contemporary topics would YOU like to add into the curriculum?
